Having always had a strong interest in photography, from the shocking David LaChapelle exhibition I first saw in Buenos Aires in 2007, to the classic fashion shots of David Bailey thrown about on America's Next Top Model, I have upped my photography interest with recently investing in my first SLR.

I have since stumbled across the fairly new success of the American wonder-kid, Todd Selby. He seems to be a phoblographer (yeah maybe that term won't catch on ha) and has had his own booming website since he started in 2008.

Toddy was born in Orange County, California and the chap himself has quite a neon-coloured CV. He has been gainfully employed as; a translator and Tijuana tour guide to the International Brotherhood of Machinists, a researcher into the California strawberry industry, as a Costa Rican cartographer, a consultant on political corruption in Mexico, an art director at a venture capital firm, a japanese clothing designer, and as a vermicomposting entrepreneur (a gardener extraordinaire, to you and me). Thankfully he found his life's true calling as a portrait and fashion photographer.

His website biography sums up his new success as the following: "Todd Selby is a portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator. His project The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist's eye for detail. The Selby began in June 2008 as a website, where Todd posted photo shoots he did of his friends in their homes. Requests quickly began coming in daily from viewers all over the world who wanted their homes to be featured on the site. The Selby’s website became so popular—with up to 35,000 unique visitors daily—that within months, top companies from around the world began asking to collaborate."
